I read recently and not sure this is correct? The local/regional trains in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam…are both under major rail re-construction and closed to London. Eurostar is the only way to go? We are traveling late Aug. Any knowledge/info on this?
No, Eurostar is the only train from Rotterdam to London.
Due to construction work at Amsterdam Central station it is unable to run between Amsterdam/Rotterdam and Brussels in that direction only. However you can still book a through ticket travelling on a Eurostar/ex Thalys train from Rotterdam to Brussels, where you change into the London bound train.
Through booked passengers have their passage through check in/passport control/security expedited at Brussels and a guaranteed connection.
You could travel by IC local train from Rotterdam to Brussels to save a few $ but then lose your protected connection.
To protect your connection from London to Bath in the event of a delayed Eurostar book from London CIV International to Bath, not from London Paddington to Bath- then you can just join the next train to Bath- and book a new seat on that next train while on the Eurostar.
PS- Both KLM and Easyjet have flights from Amsterdam to Bristol, and there is a direct bus from Bristol Airport to Bath
Big help…isn31c! Thank you!
