Train from Rome to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland

Hello all,

We've booked a train from Rome to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, with connections at Milano Centrale and Spiez. We've received a notice from Customer Care Intercity/Trenitalia. I had to translate it from Italian to English, so I hope I understood it correctly. Originally, our train would've departed from Milano Centrale at 3:20 PM. According to the notice, due to infrastructure work, the train will now depart earlier at 3:07 PM. From Roma Termini, we will arrive at Milano Centrale at 2:58 PM, giving us less than 10 minutes to catch the next train to Spiez. Would that still be enough time to make the transfer? We're just not sure which platform we'll be arriving at and which platform to board at and the distance between them as that info doesn't appear listed on the tickets.

I believe that is below minimum transfer time at Centrale, so you should have rights to take the 11:20 Frecciarosso, arriving at 2:35 pm. I don't know how you would do that on line, but you can certainly take care of that at Termini or other Italian train stations when you are there.

Indeed. What date is it. But I would go to the Frecciadesk at Roma Termini (you may do that at an earlier day if you want) and have your ticket for Rome - Milano exchanged for an earlier one at no extra charge.

Yes, the Trenitalia route planner now says to take the 11:20 Frecciarosso from Termini. If you take the 11:50, then it is extra train changes on slower trains getting to Spiez 1 1/2 to 2 hours later. SBB concurs.

Thanks for checking the schedule, Sam. Appreciate everyone’s advice! Will ask to exchange the ticket at the Termini station when I arrive in Rome.
