Train from Lyon to CDG or stay at airport hotel

Hello - my husband and I will be traveling in September, 2016. Our last stop will be Lyon. We will be returning home from CDG airport and our flight will leave at 2:00 p.m. I'm trying to decide if we should take a direct train from Lyon to CDG on the morning of our flight or take the train the evening before and stay in a hotel at the airport. I would appreciate your input.

Thanks for your help

Play it safe; go north the night before the flight. Some on-line booking sites such as www.booking.com
allow you to search for the airport. The Accor hotel chain operates a number of hotels either on airport property or in the village of Roissy , served by frequent shuttle van to the terminals. But you do not want their properties around the convention centre to the south. http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/booking/hotels-list.shtml

I would travel the day before and stay at the airport rather than risk missing your flight because of rail delays.

I will join the others to say go north the day before. We were faced with the same decision a few years ago. We had done a house exchange in a village about an hour south of Lyon and had an early afternoon flight home from CDG. I thought about just leaving in the morning of the flight, but I know I would have been shredded by anxiety over something going wrong. You could spend most of your last day in Lyon, going up just in time to go to bed. Or, you could go early, store your bags, and have part of a day in Paris.

I definitely agree with leaving Lyon the day before. However, given a 2 pm flight, I would suggest staying in Paris the night before. You have plenty of time to get to the airport the next day.

Thanks everyone. Will take train to Paris the day before and enjoy a final day in Paris. That's never a bad thing!
