Towns & Villages near Moscow Travel Meeting - 18 October

If you love to talk about travel and live anywhere near Moscow, Idaho, our group will be meeting Saturday, 18 October at 10:30a.m. at One World Cafe, 533 South Main Street in Moscow. Travel questions, travel tips and trip reports are welcome.
I know someone who will be there and will have trip reports from going on the RS 21-day Best of Europe tour, the RS 7-day Paris tour, a week with me in Paris and the RS 14-day Village Italy tour!

Bring your travel dreams and notebooks for all Pam's great travel tips! Who will we see there?

EDIT: Due to the parade and therefore lack of parking, we've changed the meeting time to 12:30!

I will be there! Looking forward to hearing about Darcy and Doug's trip. Of course I've already heard Darcy's side of things but now want to hear Doug's POV!!

Oh yes, I'm sure Doug will want to give his POV!
I haven't heard from Monte and Sharon yet, but would love to hear all about her trip with kids.

Aaaargh - total confusion. I thought you meant "the" Moscow. This should have been headed:
"Towns and villages near Moscow USA (a small place nodody has ever heard of) ...."

Side point, why do people from the USA never put "Boston USA", "Newark USA", "Norfolk USA" or "Washington USA" to distinguish from the original and genuine owners of the name? :-)

Well, Moscow IS the center of our universe, lol.

Also, it just occurred to me that next Sat may be Homecoming for University of Idaho which involves a parade down Main in the AM.  I've got limited wifi here at the hotel in Orta San Giulio so I'll wait til I get home Tuesday to check.

Thanks Andrea we will have lots to talk about!

Sorry about the confusion, Chris. The full name of the group is "Towns & Villages near Moscow--no visa required." I shortened it, obviously, because most people realize which Moscow we're talking about since we've been announcing the meetings for several years at about the same time as most other groups. The first sentence also identifies that we're in Idaho.
The University of Idaho is the reason Moscow was even created; it's a land grant school. Has an excellent Engineering program and Mining program. Check Kiplinger's and Princeton Review--it's one of the most affordable public colleges in the US.

Ok..yes definitely Homecoming this Sat with the parade down Main St at 10. Parade usually starts at Rosauers and goes toward the hospital where it breaks up. Should be over by 1130 or sooner but need some time for parking to clear out.

So? Change time, location, or date?

What say ye, Darcy?

We've definitely had to deal with parades down Main Street before. I just don't know if it was ever related to Homecoming. In the past when there were parades or the open market, Doug and I just parked near the hospital as we entered Moscow and walked over to the Cafe. The problem will be finding a parking space at 10:00 or so. Maybe we'll just have to get there early and have breakfast.

Just a reminder that the meeting will begin at 12:30 this Saturday, not the usual time!
Anyone else coming?

I think this time change will be better! See you there.

I'm just hoping you don't snore at the meeting, Pam, since you are in a different time zone!

Where are you, Roger and Cinda? Are you coming, please? You haven't been in ages and we need a packing spread sheet!!!

LOL! Yes, at least my stomach is still in another time zone even though my being is in Idaho. I seem to be having olive oil/red wine withdrawal from spending the last 2 weeks in Italy. I am not sure I can get either at One World, so a soy cafe latte and a vegan cookie will have to do it.

Get Pam some red wine - STAT! We may lose her...

Homecoming Parade? How fantastic! I've never gotten a Homecoming Parade when I've returned from Europe...I must visit Your People soon ;-)

Oh yes, it so nice they could throw this for us.

However, it is not up to the standards of your typical N. Idaho parade as there will likely NOT be a loaded log truck which is usually requisite. Then there was the time the grain/lentil elevators in our small town caught on fire the night before the parade for Old Timers day. As usual in this part of the country the volunteer Fire Departments from all the surrounding towns came to help and were there all night long. The fire was in mop up when the parade was ready to start so ALL the fire crews from surrounding towns joined in the parade. Loads of clapping and cheering for the responders. Really cool!

Well. I hope you understand when I say that I hope your Homecoming Parade isn't as cool as the one with all of the firefighters :-( unless they are there just to welcome all of you Travelers home!

I'll bring the red wine for you, Pam and I might even have a bottle of limoncello I'd share. We'll have to drink it in the car though because I doubt that One World would let us bring in our own food and beverage....although I suppose a paper bag would camouflage it well.

"...although I suppose a paper bag would camouflage it well."

That's our plan ;-)
