Does anyone know any tour companies that offer Hill of Crosses tours on a Wednesday in May? Traveling by myself so a private tour would be out of the question.
Sorry, I can't help you.
I have been to the famous site, but it was on a tour. The site is out in the middle of nowhere.
Yes, geo is right. I went there with a tour and there is nothing around for miles. I have to say the Hill itself is a bizarre sight.
First you can get to Siauliai by bus from Vilnius and then a taxi or a local bus to the site (12 km.) I don't know anything about this outfit, but you can try this link through TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductDetail?product=3573_109&d=577370&aidSuffix=tvrm&partner=Viator
We've been to the Hill of Crosses twice and would never call it bizarre. Visitors should learn why it is there, its history, and the meaning it holds for the Lithuania people. I would call it an impressive sight that causes introspection.
We've been to Lithuania three times for a month each; send a PM if you'd like. Have a great trip.
