When I used to go on business trips we had to attend travels briefings on common sense things to do to stay safe. One item we were told about hotels was to assume we were being listened to and recorded.
Just check Amazon for anti snooping devices to see the scope of the problem
Airbnb has 5.6 million active listings, and that's just one rental platform.
I did some googling, and I got equal huts on hotels and airbnb. What amazed me were the hundreds of listings for equipment to locate the cameras and articles about what to look for.

true, unless you are a victim at which time it becomes considerably more personal
This is disturbing. Is there a way you can locate such a device?
Another item to add to my list of reasons to avoid AirB&B.

That's like saying you will avoid Italy because there are pickpockets. Just take precautions and realize it could happen in any type of accommodation.
Parents have been spying on nannies for years now
Honestly and unfortunately in this age of technology cameras can be anywhere. A new reality that sadly we have little control over..Unless maybe you are a gov agent… and hope you have detection devices. Go on living your best life. Or stay home. Nope…thanks.
It can happen in a hotel. Sportscaster Erin Andrews was filmed by a stalker through the peepholes in a room in a Marriot Hotel and in a room in a Radisson Hotel.

But unlike an AirB&B I can move rooms or move hotels.
Apparently happens in gas station bathrooms, too….. 2019 in Houston, 2022 in Florida, January in Missouri,
Mister E, that carry on might be getting close to the weight limit…. you will have to wear ALL your clothes instead of packing them….
Barbara, you can only move hotels if you are the one who finds it…..I feel like if you find one in an Air BnB, you could move, too. I would.
Add masking tape to your packing list to cover the lenses.

And because of this I always block the peephole with tissue.
