Tour to Paris, Switzerland and other country

Hi, I want to travel Europe for 9-12 days and I have a question for the travel Paris, Switzerland. I want to travel from Toronto to Paris, Switzerland but not sure how to manage and where should I go first and then how should I go another country. I am also think to add another 3rd country but not sure which country should choose. Should I add another country? can I add SPAIN in my tour or should consider another country? Please also do some help to choose best city of these countries. This is my first visit in Europe that's why I am unable to manage the sequence of tour from Toronto --> Paris, Switzerland and Spain and then return from Europe to Toronto. I will much thankful if someone could help about this tour (flight/hotel/train etc). Please also provide the help for train from one country to another Europe country. I want to go Europe for 9-12 days with my wife and 2 kids (7 and 9 yrs). Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

9-12 days is possible to see Paris and some of Switzerland OR Spain, but not all three, in my opinion.

I would fly Toronto to Paris and spend 5 nights, then take the train to Switzerland for at least 5 nights and more if you can. Where in Switzerland depends on what you want to do. Does your family like to hike? The Berner Oberland is fabulously beautiful. What have you read about Switzerland that makes you want to go there? What time of year are you traveling?

Have you picked up Europe Through the Back Door, the great first introduction to Europe? Should be at most bookshops in Toronto (Toronto used to have the worlds biggest bookshop, or so it said, I wonder if there are still bookshops in TO) or at a library (same question, does TO still have libraries), or are you somewhere out in the sticks like Hamilton and just go to TO to fly?

After Europe Through The Back Door, you will have absorbed Rick Steves' method of travel and many many question which you didn't know you even had will be answered, you can then progress to get the guidebooks for Paris and Switzerland and your third country (although 9-12 days (can't count the arrival or departure day, so really 8-10?) isn't enough for two let alone three) and most of your questions will be answered.

It isn't reasonable to ask us here, in 4,000 letter chunks to write guidebooks for you. That's been done, you just have to study.

The best use of these Forums is to come with a specific question and get a specific answer. Or many questions.

Have you read the Travel Tips part of this website? https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips for information about transportation and trains and crossing borders within Europe.

Do all 4 of you have Canadian passports?

You could certainly do Paris, Switzerland, and Spain in 11 or 12 days. Where in Spain are you thinking of?
Air Canada has nonstops between Toronto and Paris, and Madrid or Barcelona to Toronto. Air Transat also has nonstops Toronto to Paris, and Barcelona to Toronto. Easyjet has cheap flights from Geneva to either Madrid or Barcelona. Frequent trains from Paris to various points in Switzerland (Basel, Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich). Tickets are inexpensive if you buy 90 days in advance. The kids get a 20% discount on already discounted tickets.
