tour director

What do you do when your tour director doesn't do what he/she is supposed to be doing? This was a reputable company!!! He slept on the bus, and catered to people who behaved badly, especially at night. Singles who had no clue.
Never had a guide like this one.

Complain in writing to the Head Office of the tour company. If you booked through a travel agent, get her to complain as well. Give all details and the relevant date of each and every event that made you unhappy. Do not exaggerate, be reasoned and civil, and maybe you will get satisfaction.

I assume you did not tip?

I would also explain that to the operator when you complain. Ask for a refund of some of your fee since they didn't deliver.

Be VERY specific about what was promised vs delivered. Make sure it's not "I wasn't the class favorite" You have to have REAL things he/she didn't do. Catering to people is the job of the guide.

Kathi, I'm sorry to hear things like this. As a former certified tour director, I can tell you that the vast majority of us hate to hear this and try to weed out those who are totally unprofessional.

First thing...did you get a evaluation form for the tour. I guarantee you these are read. Every tour company I worked for read each and every one, and if we got a negative one, had to answers to our superiors and explain the reason. Too many, and you're fired.

Second...if you did not get things you were promised on the tour, you may be entitled to a partial refund.

If others on the tour felt the same way, and you have their names and addresses, you should all complain.

Please PM me with information on the tour company--I don't want it on the main board--and I'll do what I can to help.

BTW--sleeping on the coach while pax are on board is considered very unprofessional and may be grounds for dismissal with some tour companies.

kathi,

I'm assuming the "reputable company" was not a RS Tour?

If you prefer guided tours, you might consider one of Rick's tours in the future. I'll be embarking on my third tour in a few short weeks, and really looking forward to it!

Cheers!
