tour co Paris

The only tour co I can find in Paris is Paris Vision which seems to have bad reviews. I would like tours to Versailles and the Louvre. There is another co which was reccommend, but was very expensive. Any suggestions?

It is so easy and inexpensive to go to either Versailles or the Louvre (especially the latter) on your own. Is there a particular reason you want to use a travel company?

Well, I agree with Norma, both places are easy to do on your own,, but there are a few other options.
You can do Versailles as a bike tour from Paris( you take the bikes on the train, not ride all the way from Paris) , this is a fun idea on a nice day, it includes a visit to the market in Versailles to pick up picnic supplies and lunch on the grounds of the Palace. Fat Tire Bike Tours. For the Louvre, there is a free brief overview tour I think a few times a day, look on the Louvre website, or there is a company that will give you a guide, and I have done this once, and even after having visited the Louvre many times I still learned a ton from the guide. Paris Walks. Paris Walks and Fat Tire are not especially cheap, but you do get alot more from it then a 4 hour visit ( for Versailles) or a rush through bus tour, so you can look into them. As I have already said, Norma is right though, both are done easily on your own. PS the bike tour is easy , we had kids and fit seniors on the tour I took. I also highly recommend the Fat Tire bike tour to Giverny( Monets Gardens) , it was my actual favorite. I do recommend that you consider the weather, a bike tour in March could be cold and wet, and in August, hot and sweaty.

We used Paris Walks for their Louvre Highlights tour. It was 2 hours in the evening in February so the museum wasn't crowded. It was perfect for us. I am trying to remember the name of the volunteer organization which hooks up locals who love their city with tourist. We had a great day with a woman named Sara - supposed to be two or three hours but lasted much longer - she showed us all around the Montmartre neighborhood and to the big flea market. She brought us to her favorite lunch place and we had a nice lunch. Rode the carousel. Arghh - can't recall name of organization!!

I think Bronwen is referring to Paris Greeters. I am going to look into that for my trip next fall. If anyone has any first hand experience with that I would love to hear about it.

If you search carefully on the Louvre website, there are "Thematic Trails" that you can follow to do a self-guided tour with detailed instructions (such as "turn right out of the room...") Print out the ones you want to do before you go. I highly recommend them even over a tour guide. My parents loved them as they were able to stop and look at anything that interested them along the way, while a guide would have made you walk past (and you'd probably never be able to find that spot again!). Do you need to get to/from Versailles, or do you just want someone to guide you through it? There's probably a pod cast or audiofile somewhere with a tour if you don't need someone to take you to/from the chateau.
