TOMTOM 910 GPS

We have a Tomtom 910 and have had it for (my guess) about 3-4 years. We took it to Europe with us the last 2 years, and it was fantastic. Just came back from another trip and during the trip it stopped working. We thought we had accidentally left it on overnight (?) Now the green light is on like it's charging, but it won't go any further than this. Have any of you with a Tomtom 910 experienced this? We haven't been able to locate any place that does service on this, so we just might be looking at having to purchase something new.

Sharon a couple of things you may try.
1. Unplug the unit from any charging source and let the battery run down until the green light goes off. Then plug it back into the wall outlet or your cars cigarette lighter and see if it will power back on and operate as it should.

  1. At the base of the unit is a reset button. I think it is a small gold button that is recessed in the base of the unit. Take a pen and press the reset button for a few seconds and release. The unit could be locked up and this could start it working again. I have had to use the reset several times on my 910. The manual does not tell you anything about this feature.

You are welcome, Sharon. Glad it worked. Just curious, which method worked, 1 or 2?

It was method #2 - the reset button. My husband hadn't noticed the button (it's not obvious) so it totally helped that you directed us toward it. Thanks again.

Thank you. Maybe your 910 will keep on working for some future trips.

Sharon, thanks for the question, and Lane, thanks for the answer.

My TOMTOM 920 has worked faithfully for me in Europe and the US, until my trip a couple of weeks ago in France, when "Jeanette" would stutter when saying the name of the street that we were supposed to turn on.

I think that I will try the re-set option.

Thanks again for the post, and the answer!
