Time from airport to city centre in Iceland

I am looking at a flight from London to Iceland that arrives at 3 pm I need to be at my hotel by 5:30 for a tour group meeting. How long does it usually take to get from the airport to the city centre. My other option is flying in a day early. Need to fly icelandair due to fellow travelers. Not sure if I will be dong carryon as I am spending two weeks in Paris and London prior to by arrival in Iceland.

Thanks
Wendy

I fly in a day early because you can never control the weather.

You still should be able to do carry on only. Once you've packed for 1 week you've packed for many.
Add in silk long johns and a puff jacket with your rain coat for Iceland. Bring waterproof shoes.

Fly in the day before. I was just in Reykjavik and can tell you you will be cutting it close.

The Flybus is 45 minutes to the depot once you leave. From the depot you go onto smaller buses to take you to your hotel and it makes many stops. And, the bus doesn't leave the airport as soon as you get on. It loads to capacity and that takes time.

Plus, your flight could be delayed.

Keflavik isn't a huge airport terminal wise but it is crowded.

You can spend the extra day wondering around Reykjavik. Go see things not on your tour.

Thanks the reason I was thinking of arriving on the day my tour started is that it would give me 7 days in Iceland and be counted as a free stopover but the cost is only about $150 more and the piece of mind may be worth it to arrive a day early.

Thanks
