tickets to the Oberammergau Passion Play

I am trying to decide whether I should take the guaranteed ticket and hotel for one night at $1088, or stay in Munich and take a chance on getting a ticket (scalped I am sure) at the theatre that day and take a train back to Munich at night after the play.

I couldn't tell you the chances of getting a ticket to the play at the theatre, but the trains back to Munich run until 10:43 PM.
