Do you recommend buying admission tickets in advance for the tulip festival at Keukenhof park in the Netherlands? We plan to be there around April 26 - 28.
It won't be any different from buying an admission ticket to an amusement park or zoo.
Not sure what the last poster is talking about, but there's a huge field next to the gardens where you can park. At worst, you may have to walk from the far end of the field, but even this isn't particularly far.
If you're taking the bus from Schipol Airport to the Garden's, you can purchase a combo ticket via the website, which includes the bus ticket and admission....it will save you a few euros.

But it's not essential to buy them in advance. Even the tickets you get direct from the site are valid anytime from March until May...there's no time reservation scheme.
Of course, if the poster had been there then he would have known that. I guess his guidebook didn't mention the parking lot.
I was there last April (the Tuesday following Easter) and the line to buy tickets moved quite quickly. I don't think I waited more than 5 or 10 minutes to get my ticket. While there were some large tour groups there, they were not waiting in the ticket queue (only their guides were).
I took the train to Leiden and switched to the bus. I'm not sure that this was the fastest way, but it was quite easy. Directions for transit are on the Keukenhof website. I also noticed that the parking area was quite large.
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I am sure we will enjoy the gardens! Ron N
