Tickets & Apartment Reservations

I will be traveling to Paris, Venice, Florence & Rome in that order in October. How far in advance should I make apartment reservations and purchase tickets for museums? Thank you.

Are you staying long enough in each city to stay in rental apartments? Or are you asking about hotels? If you have your dates of travel set, it's not too early now. As for museums, it's all very different. Unless there will be major exhibitions going on I wouldn't worry about advance reservations except for the Uffizzi in Florence.

I have already made my apartment reservations for Sept./Oct. If you know your itinerary is not going to change I think you have to best chance to get what you want by reserving early. If you are willing to take a chance and possibly get a better deal, you can wait until shortly before you leave. Personally I go for what I want. I book apartments through vrbo.com or homeaway.com and because I am dealing directly with the owners have been successful in negotiating the terms. Not all apartment rentals require a one week stay. I actually rented an apartment in Verona for only 2 nights! No cleaning fees (I try to stay away from those) and it cost less than a hotel. It is way too early for museum tickets. When you purchase them will depend on what museums you are planning to go to.
