My husband and I have three weeks off in April and would like to visit Europe with our two boys 6 and 4. We were thinking Italy, but are open to any suggestions. Warmer countires may be better - Greece, Portugal or Spain. We would probably stay in one nice part of the country, rent a villa/apartment and drive to other destinations. I know this is such an open ended plan but we have time to plan and tailor it to something fun.
With young children, I would think about Greece. If you go to Crete it should be warm enough for the beach and I assume that the kids would love that. I had friends who went to Sicily at that time of year and really enjoyed it. Another thought would be to go some place with interesting castles and trains. Are either of your boys Thomas the Tank Engine boys? If so, the UK might be a nice destination. The UK does have nice springs. Pam
We've been to Ireland twice and although we don't have kids, it's actually a very child friendly area. Especially the countryside areas like Dingle. That time of year is still the off season and you could get a great deal on an apartment. For warmer countries i would avoid Spain and Portugal. Certain areas can be quite cold, and they don't seem as family friendly to me. They're a strict culture in my experience. Others may have had other experiences.
