Three days of rain scheduled for lauterbrunnen where else could we go foor

We are dur to spent three days in lauterbrunnen switzerland. The forcast is for rain all three days. Has anyone gone to that area. Just wondering if someplace else to go for a day trip nearby by train Thinking to spend day two in lnterlaken as it will be warmer and less chance of rain looking for a backup for day three if we don,t want to tour around in the rain

Take the weather forecasts with a grain of salt. The high peaks create havoc with the weather patterns making predictions very difficult. There really isn't much to do in Interlaken. For rainy day options consider day trips to Luzern, the Ballenberg open-air museum, or Gruyere.

When (what dates) will you be in the Lauterbrunnen valley? What is the rest of your itinerary?

We travel there tomorrow June 6 arriving later in the afternoon then there June 7 and 8 leaving for Basel on the 9 for one night
Then back to london for our flight home the next day. This is the end of a 24 day trip that took us to London Paris Venice Tuscany Florence last stop Lauterbrunnen We have been quite fortunate no rain the entire time even in London. We could do day trips from Lauterbrunnen Had planned to go to Wengen and Murrren but it seems both will be rainy. We may go anyway one day but thought to have a back up plan. If anyone has any ideas we are open Roomis already paid for

Go already. You won't see much difference in weather forecasts between Muerren and Wengen; they are very close together on opposite sides of the valley. Weather in the mountains moves in and out, up and down. Look around when you get there and go where it looks like it will be nice when you get there. Clouds over the mountains, and moving between them, are cool. Enjoy - stop worrying.

Interlaken doesn't get much love on this website, but I can think of many worse places to spend a rainy day. At least there's plenty of shops and restaurants. Spending the day here is preferable to sitting in a hotel room in Lauterbrunnen. Another choice would be the Brienz Rothornbahn. This is a steam-powered rack railway that ascends from Brienz and gives you a good view of the mountains and lakes... which of course, would be somewhat compromised in rainy weather. But at least the carriages are covered to keep you dry.

I never said I didn't love Interlaken. I've happily stayed in hotels there on three previous trips to the BO. One of the main reason is because it easier to get out of area in case of bad weather. Other than the excellent model train museum next the West station, there aren't really enough things to do there for a full day. There are lots of other tourist sites just a train ride away...rain or shine.

When we are staying in Mürren we use rainy days to walk the Lauterbrunnen Valley path and visit Trummelbach Falls, where younare inside the mountain and out of the rain ( but you can get wet from the spray son wear a rain jacket). Another thing you could do is take a lake boat from Interlaken ost to , visiting the town and the attractions in that area ( Rothorn steam train, Ballenberg open-air museum). Then boat the short distance from Brienz across to Giessbach and ride the little funicular up to the hotel for lunch or tea, and see the waterfall there. Www.giessbach.ch for photos Or visit Bern and explore the city.

We went to Chillon Castle from Murren and had a great time. At least you'd be indoors!
