Threatres in July

With the exception of London or Paris, are there any European opera house performances in July? So many take summer months off. It’s time consuming to go to each website to find out there are no performances until September.

Hi Susan,

I have attended these, and they have operas in July.

Verona, Italy - a wonderful experience of opera outdoors in the Roman Arena.

…Doesn’t look like anything available at either La Fenice in Venice or at the Vienna Opera House.

Adding my nod to the summer festival circuit.

Glyndebourne is an especially special experience if you’re in/around London.

The New Yorker magazine has an article on German Opera houses, mostly the smaller ones.

The Bundesrepublik has more than eighty permanent opera houses, which in a typical season present seven or eight thousand performances - about a third of the global total ...

I checked three large cities in Germany in less than a couple of minutes, all had scheduled performances for July.

Just a heads up that in this heat wave you could probably expect that many venues could be quite warm. Just take this into account when making your plans.

I'm no opera buff but Bayreuth has a famous festival which starts towards the end of July. Bayreuth has a splendid downtown area and plenty of attractions to see in and around the town.

To add to what James E said, for Bayreuth you need to have purchased tickets 2 or 3 years ago.
