What is the 3-1-1 rule? I've been told that every liquid must be 3oz or less and in a clear 1 quart zip-locked baggie. Do my liquids have to be in commercially labeled bottles or can I purchase clear 3oz bottles and fill with my favorite shampoo and conditioner, etc?

You were told correctly and yes, you can purchase clear 3oz bottles (walmart sells them in the travel section for like 50c a piece - easily available other places too) and put whatever you like in them as long as they all fit into the baggie (which holds more than you might think!). It's the size of the bottle, not what's in it that matters. :)

Hi Lori, the 3-1-1 rule is~~~3 oz bottles, in a 1 quart zip lock bag, 1 bag per traveler. I purchased clear 3oz bottles and didn't have any problems.
