This Travel Forum Helps Us Understand What We've Seen

This Travel Forum Helps Us Understand What We've Seen after a European trip.

A trip could be thought of as consisting of 3 phases:
pre-trip planning
doing the trip
post-trip research to get a better understanding of what we saw on the trip.

The Forum's purpose is not limited to experienced travelers answering the pre-trip questions of other travelers.

Renee's mentioning Dr. Charney's book on the Ghent Altarpiece is increasing my understanding of that artwork and the theft of parts of it over the centuries.
Lane's posts have helped me get a better understanding of the Ghent Altarpiece and how other artists studied its technique.
Susan's recommendation of the Canadian film Passchendaele, which I've just today viewed, helped me get a better understanding of the unique way in which the WW1 experience affected subsequent Canadian history.

Thank you to Forum members for sharing their knowledge, which can help us have a better understanding of what we've seen and experienced in Europe.

CT, you make a good point. Its not just about answering basic planning questions over and over. I learn a lot from the trip reports and the educated discussion on general travel-related topics, as you mention. I look at the forum as a place where people have conversations on a topic of common interest, not just a reference library with black and white answers.

I participate in the Forum (too much probably) because I enjoy telling stories of the things that happened on trips. Some of these things were dumb, and offer cautionary tales. Some of them are great, and others can share in the good experience.

Curious Traveler, I'm glad you appreciate the forum, and it's very nice that you specifically thank some who helped you.
