This group is always looking for off the beaten path places to visit. Thought some might enjoy this.

Not perfect because they make you read two paragraphs to find out its not a place you are interested in, but the TimeOut travel news is generally less sensationalized than most.

I remember when Rome was still all about the local population. Before the tourists came. It was 176AD. Progress is a terrible thing.

The article, supposedly about top trending rural destinations, mentions and includes a link to Airbnbs located in Montreuil, France. Unfortunately, the Montreuil in the link is a different French city with the same name, just a few kilometers from Paris in one of the most densely populated suburbs. Let me warn you, it's going to be far from rural. :-)

Gérardmer Lake is pleasant enough. I think it's safe from mass toursim.

their current ads on British TV is all about rural and hyper rural properties where hotels aren't. Lots of ads.

Coincidence? Or product placement? Call me cynical.
