I just received my renewed passport and it is the new one with the computer chip in it. This does not make me feel comfortable at all. Whether it is the government reading it when I don't know it, or a hacker, I don't care, I don't want anyone reading it. Of course I have no choice so... Has anyone bought one of the RFID blocker passport wallets? If so, what is your opinion? Do you think it works? Which one did you buy?
Do you want a tinfoil hat with that? No seriously it's not a problem. Read this article: http://www.cr80news.com/library/2008/05/30/rfid-privacy-and-security/. Frankly, I think people who buy RFID blocking wallets are wasting their $.
Wray, it is an urban myth about the passport chip. It has NO information. It contains a 16 digit encoded number. Let anyone read it. It means nothing. Don't buy into all of these internet stories. It is perfectly safe/
Thanks, you guys. That makes me feel better. I wasn't looking forward to adding a passport cover to the contents of my moneybelt. Thanks.
