i'm planning to travel in Italy in August. I'm mixed and I have a strange hair that is not easy to manage. I see african-american women and they wear their hair so well...that never worked for me. What do you (african-american women) use to keep your hair look nice (for wash and go style) while traveling? thanks for your help :)
If you don't get any answers here, why not try speaking to a stylist who specializes in African-American hair? There are lots of them in Atlanta.
Nancy- i did that but i did not want to put chemicals in my hair :( i guess i have to try different stylist.

I used to work with a lovely African-American lady. She once had her hair cut rather short then either twisted or braided into TINY 'twists' all over. they were no more than 1 or 1 1/2 inches long. It looked great for work, did fine for casual and formal occassions, too. She just washed it as needed (and that was not all that often). The 'do' lasted for many, many weeks! She did say that it took several hours for her stylist to do all the twists, though.
My take, Troll.
Okay, I'm seriously not trying to start anything, but this stuff made me laugh out loud. It's more like a glass of milk around this joint, James. And "Afro-American"? It's not 1967 for crying out loud.
:)
Bets, Thanks for the info, never heard of Moroccan oil...it is too expensive but i think i'll give it a try. Blessings, Lou.
Lou, I didn't notice the price, but they do sell it at Walmart. Maybe it's cheaper there than where you saw it?
Nancy, i'll check, thanks for the tip! xx, Lou
First saw it for $$$ at a salon, then for much less at Walgreen's. Bought it two for the price of one at CVS. Won't leave home without it now.
My friends always get a keratin treatment before trips because it makes their hair a true 'wash and wear' style. They talked me into trying it and now I do it every few months. It completely changes the texture of your hair. It dries fast and makes it mostly straight and glossy. Be very careful about shampoos and stay out of salt water. LivingSocial.com usually has some deals on it if your normal salon doesn't do it. If you need some help locally, I can hook you up in a PM. Good luck!
