For anyone going to any part of the UK and really, anyplace in Europe, you might want to consider subscribing to The Traveler newsletter by The Guardian. It's free, is delivered 2x a week, and has some wonderful information about travel in it.
For example, here are a few articles I've found in my email inbox over the last few weeks. And they have articles about places outside the UK as well. I love The Guardian - there's no paywall, although you will come across requests for donations, but I don't mind that. It's not invasive - a simple click takes it away - and I give them money from time to time because I love their organization.
