The best map for Scotland...

We will have about a week in Scotland, 5 of which we will use a car to get around. Can anyone recommend a map that I can use ahead of time to plan our timelines and can also be used when we get there? Thanks so much.

I've found that both Borders and Barnes and Noble have good map selections. There are several scales. I find that the Michelin map is pretty big, but it's everything in one. The Ordnance Survey maps come at different scales. For most driving 1:250,000 scale works well. I think that these are still blue. The pinks ones are 1:50,000 scale and the orange ones--handy for cities--are 1:25,000.

Have fun planning.

The Ordnance Survey maps are excellent. For driving in Britain I use the AA Big Road Atlas Britain. It's a large format spiral-bound road atlas with exceptionally clear maps that are easy to use on the road. I have used it to navigate around the western Highlands, Cornwall, the Yorkshire Dales, and many other places. I just buy one when I get there, although you can order one form home.
