I have been to several of these places and they were good.
Others come as a surprise.
Each to their own.
Ah yes these two places, Menorca and Asturias, have been quite popular holiday destinations with Spaniards for decades, it appears they are starting to blip on the international radar too. Our national newspaper El Pais, had an article out today on the 3 Spanish destinations that the NY Times profiled. In case you are looking for more information about those places (you may need to use the translate page feature on your web browser):

Grump here weighing in....it annoys me that they list "Washington" without adding the DC. "Washington" is an actual state.
Thanks for the link, though. It was very interesting especially about Asturias, Spain.
In the early days of Tampa FL the local Cuban immigrant population (usually working in the cigar industry) signed up for a social club that also provided health care and cemetery services. Those with heritage extending back to the Asturias area of Spain used Centro Asturiano. When I worked in health care in that area in the 70's and 80's they still provided hospital services. Interesting to explore that link back to Spain.
Menorca, it's bigger sister Mallorca and livelier cousin Ibiza have all been popular destinations for Brits and other Europeans for decades. For some reason Mallorca is dominated by British and German tourists and not so much of other Europeans.
