So someone told me that there are limited options to store luggage in some major European cities this summer because of terrorism? How much of a problem is this? Will I be unsafe? Should I use private storage companies? Or is it just paranoia? Thanks again for all the help!
Hello again stewie for president in 1993
How are the plans going? Your last thread said that you were still pretty uncertain.
Did you ever get Europe Through The Back Door? What did you think of it?
There's no more or less terrorism in Europe than than has been, it just comes from a different direction.
It has been a long time since most places removed do it yourself lockers where previous generations of terrorists placed bombs, and replaced them with fewer manned facilities with x-ray machines. Luggage is now much safer.
Unsafe? What about all the others traveling? If you're going to Austria and Germany, the good thing is that you'll find coin lockers at the train stations, unlike in Paris, where coin lockers were taken out by the mid-90s. Those German train stations without coin lockers won't have any facility to store luggage, such as Rüdesheim, Sigmaringen an der Donau, Butzbach/Hessen, etc. I always use coin lockers, fits my purpose just fine.
Actually there are luggage storage at many train stations in Paris.. Suggest you simply type in " left luggage storage Paris" and you will see.
Not sure about this terrorism thing.. perhaps it is paranoia .. since the States are just as likely to have terrorism problems as any other country.
loads of left luggage places in just about every city, most train stations have them, can be a bit expensive in the UK as all the train station left luggage are run by a private company. many bus stations will have lockers.
Check on the various destination forums for up to date info on the places you are visiting as folk on these forums will be able to advise.
Tons of lockers in Frankfurt at the main station, cost is 3-5 €.. Left luggage also available at the airport and Hauptbahnhof. Pricier than a locker though.
Where are you reading these mysterious reports of terrorism in Europe?
