Taking theme pictures in Spain

My boyfriend and I are taking our first trip to Spain, together this summer. We would like to come up with a theme (pose, object we might hold, etc. we can use for our pictures (a lot of them, not every single one). All suggestions are welcome. Any creative ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a favorite character? Perhaps a small figure or "flat" version of the character. (Google Flat Stanley if you are not familiar).

Not quite a theme. Our son and dil did a 5 month around the world honeymoon. The look for shapes in anything that looked like the letters of their last name. Call home, picked the best and framed each one. Make a very interesting collection of prints and a big reminder of their trip.

Maybe you have a photo of a pet, or a little garden gnome (or other figurine special to you two - if held in the foreground, it'll look as large as the Learning Tower of Pisa or Eiffel Tower), a favorite iconic painting pose (maybe not great for photos, but by 'iconic' I mean Mona Lisa, Naploeon...), recreate a favorite album cover pose (personally, I vote for Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' Mick and his, ummm, thingies - bring your own props), a pose from a favorite movie scene, something precious from your childhoods (Barbie seeing the world with you and your boyfriend's Matchbox car or well-used Nerf football)...Or make your own 'cue cards' from 8x11 copy paper and a ( thick) black Sharpie - either one photo, or a sequence; these can describe the scene like a vintage postcard ('World's largest ball of Spanish twine!') or help explain what's in the photo, or just write how you're feeling at that moment ('Soooo Tired!' 'Blessed' 'I'm Hungry' 'Having a Great Time!' 'I LOVE Spain!!!')...or just say something silly, perhaps appropriate lines from favorite movies. You could put these into a collage frame or photo album and let it serve as your travel journal. Do you have a hobby that would translate well into a prop or pose? A profession? Maybe an homage to a loved-one's life? Ballet positions, skeet-shooting poses, clown wig, snorkel, whisk, charades poses, football/baseball/tennis player poses... Whatever you're using to take photos, try to bring a tiny tripod so you can both be in the photos at once! If you're blogging or updating your Facebook page and want to freak-out the peeps back home, start posting fake pics of your boyfriend proposing to you...over and over again... everywhere ;-)

Frank's suggestion is super! Lots of people photograph doors, gates, types of garden pots, street signs, bikes, different types of cobblestones, train station facades - whatever catches your eye. It's not the same as a prop or pose, but still a good idea and a jumping-off point.

Some years ago I started noticing that many churches, shrines, niches, Old Master paintings, etc. contained a shell motif. Then I learned it also was the symbol of the El Camino de Santiago. I began seeing brass shell markers embedded in the streets in Belgium. I'm sure they must be in Spain as well. This has become a bit of a passion with me - to look for and find this symbol everywhere I travel in Europe. https://www.google.com/search?q=el+camino+de+santiago+symbols&client=safari&hl=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=yFW6UcroA-fuyAHhhYCwBg&ved=0CC4QsAQ&biw=320&bih=504
