I have done quite a bit of google research and looked at both the Swiss and Italian rail schedules, but wanted to also check with this group for any better ideas. There will be four of us visiting Switzerland and Italy next May. We have 14 nights on the ground and are seasoned travelers. Here is the itinerary:
-Land in Zurich, train immediately to Lucern for 2 nights.
-Train to Wengen 3 nights
-Bellagio leg is where I need some logistical assistance/ confirmation. Train from Wengen to Milan and private driver to Bellagio? Or train to Varenna, ferry to Bellagio, taxi to hotel? Go through Lugano instead? 2 nights here.
-Train to Venice 3 nights
-Train to Florence, pick up rental car for 4 nights in Chianti countryside.
-Fly home from Florence.
Thank you in advance for any tips on this routing.
