Hello all
I have recently gotten a schengen visa from Swiss embassy. I also want to visit a friend who lives in The Hague Netherlands for a couple of days. Since my visa is from Switzerland I want to book my roundtrip flight from my country of origin ( qatar) to Geneva. What I’m looking for is suggestions of the best way and route to get from Switzerland to Netherlands.
In Switzerland I’ll be staying in the Mont La Ville area.
I’m thinking to just get a flight from Geneva to Amsterdam or Rotterdam after landing Geneva however if there’s a train journey possible after spending a night or two in Geneva to rest I’d like to explore that option too!
You should fly from Geneva to Amsterdam; it is less complicated and expensive than taking the train
Thank you that’s what I’m thinking to do as well! Would it be a good idea to book it now ahead of time or I can just wait till I’m there to book?
It is not necessary to enter the Schengen area in the country that provided you with a Visa. So having received a visa from the Swiss consulate does not mean you need to fly to Geneva.
You can fly to anywhere in Europe. What matters is that your travel plan matches mostly the plan you submitted when applying for the visa. What you could do is do an open jaw: Fly to Geneva, and back from Amsterdam, or vv. That will permit you to use your time most efficiently.
Hi Wengen
Thank you for ur reply.
That would’ve been ideally tbh but I was hearing mixed experiences of people having issues with boarding or at immigration because of changing itinerary and I’m someone who gets major travel anxiety as it is so I ended up booking round trip to Geneva for peace of mind :/ now the only thing I can do is book a flight from Geneva to Amsterdam. Which I would like to know if it’s worth booking ahead or I can do it closer to time just to have flexibility
Or two if there is any nice train journey possible with less transfers but I wouldn’t mind stopping one or two nice places. But I assume this will have many transfers and not a good idea. Just weighing my options now
