Swiss Travel Pass -Discounts count against Flex days??

We are hopefully spending 13 nites is Switzerland in September. [Fully-vacinated seniors, all reservations changeable/cancelable, carry-on luggage only.]

Question-
IF we buy the 8-Day Swiss Flexible Travel Pass, and show the Pass to get a discount on a lift/train/gondola not covered, does that count as a day's use?

I'm actually leaning towards the 15 Day Consecutive Pass, as it's only about $40+ CHF more than the 8 Day Flex Pass, but I'm very curious regarding the answer to the above.

I'm also trying to figure out the Regional Passes in the Berner Oberland, as we are staying four nights in Murren. My head is already spinning over all these choices.

I'm sure I'll return to this Forum as I refine the details of this itinerary, and have more questions.

I have received invaluable advice here in the past from all you experience travelers!

Yes they do, so you will have to pay full price if you don't want to use a pass day. That also applies to the free museum visits and public transportation.

Even with a pass day, you only get 50% discount on transport above Muerren, and only 25% going above Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg or the Jungfraujoch.

Have you looked at the 30-day Half Fare Card? It is only 120 CHF. Yes you still have to buy tickets for each journey, but the savings are usually greater than getting a Swiss Travel Pass or the BO pass. If going to the Jungfraujoch you still get a 50% discount, which is better than the STP.

Pat, thank you because I did not know this... I had assumed it was unlimited for each day. Glad I'm reading this.

Also was considering how the 50% might be a better deal since I only need 5 days of consecutive travel.

Thanks so much for this helpful info- now onto more research! Even tho I have been to Switzerland twice, each trip plan is different. I want to see the Jungfrau this time-last time the weather was too rainy. [I did see the Jungfrau from Bern- not the same!]
