What, if any, supplies do you bring when you rent an apt. in Europe? Spices? Cereal? Soymilk? Of course, I don't imagine you'll bring anything heavy or big, but just things for convenience and economy, or just to tie you over for the first couple of days. Or do you just wing it as part of the adventure? I love to do this too. Thanks for all your help.
In our many stays in various apartments in Vienna we have always shopped after we arrive at the local Billa or Spar. Part of the great fun of doing an apartment in a foreign city. Would never do it any other way.
Every apartment will be different. The only way you will know for sure is to ask the owner/manager. I usually bring tea bags and the sweetener I like, then go shopping for what I need after I arrive and see what is there.
Tea bags, wash cloth, door stopper.
Haven't rented an apartment in Paris yet, will this summer, but have rented in other places. I bring what I always bring,, tea bags and slenda,, and a few small twist ties of plastic with some salt /pepper/ steak seasoning in them( yes some places have those things, but some do not) . I also always pack some small ziplock baggies for packing snacks or lunches.
The only thing that I bring is a reusable shopping bag so that I can go buy stuff at the market and ziploc bags. I've rented 3 times in the last three years and each apartment has been different. Some of the apartments have had dry goods left by prior tenants (e.g. coffee, sugar, coffee filters, salt etc.) In each apartment, I've surveyed what was there and then gone to the market to buy what I wanted. I will say that I have found that I don't really cook in the apartment. I usually have breakfast there and sometimes eat in when I get prepared goods (e.g. Paris had loads of great things you can bring back to the apartment ... roast chicken, quiche, cheese, etc.)
