I bought a Travel Guard insurance policy when I bought my plane ticket that covers up to $500 ($100/day) in trip interruption/delay costs related to COVID-19 quarantine -- in the unfortunate event that that would be necessary. (I also booked this on a Chase Sapphire Preferred card, that offers at least some travel insurance benefits re: COVID illness and quarantine). This doesn't seem like it would cover very much, given hotel expenses, so I was wondering if I should supplement this travel policy with a World Nomads policy that provides coverage of up to $2500 total. Does this make sense or will having two policies unnecessarily complicate my life and the process of filing any claims (as neither would want to be the one to pay?).
this is a very personal choice, but IMO if you have two insurance policies, all they will do is point at each other and not pay anything
With most travel insurance policies, you can increase the coverage once you're purchased the initial policy- for additional cost, of course.
Safe travels!
I think you answered your own question - (as neither would want to be the one to pay).
I’ll just point out that some insurance policies, especially those associated with cc’s, specifically state that in the event that you have purchased other insurance, theirs becomes secondary. The mantra, “read the fine print,” applies. Also, as others have warned, you do not want to open the door to disputes between companies as to who is responsible for payouts.
