I am renting a room from a retired lady in Amsterdam for 2 1/2 weeks. What would be a good gift to bring from US?
Hi Millie,
Europeans seem to really appreciate receiving a couple of containers (quart cans are nice) of premium Vermont Maple Syrup...
Have a great trip! ... P.
I would suggest something made/crafted in your home area.
Smoked salmon. maple syrup Local candy cotlets mrs Sees candy is a buy and popular
If you're a hardcore carry-on traveler, my suggestion won't fly. But here it is...A smallish bottle of Niagara Ice wine. Or the Maple syrup idea might be nice, too!
You're from MS, so can you think of anything truly unique to your area? Or the south? (My American family in the South brought us Peacans from their own orchard which was kind of nice. They brought along a family receipe and we made pecan pie. I thought that was really creative. A little taste of their home to mine!)
If you are paying to rent the room, a gift from the US is a truly nice gesture but not a requirement, I don't think. Maybe if you want to, you could bring her some fresh flowers one day when you are passing by the market? Or even pick up a local specialty THERE to bring her. Pick up something you liked and share it with her? Show her pictures of your life back home? (If she's friendly...)
