Suggested stops and how to do them most efficiently

To the community:

We are travelling to Romania (Bucarest) for a few days on an invitation from a family member. Our original plan was to do Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, and London. We are coming from Montreal. What would be the most efficient route - start in Europe and do the Netherlands et al and then to Romania or go to Romania and then head back. Suggestions on how to plan the cities and what mode of transport for the western part of the trip.

Thank you

How much time do you have? And how much time do you want to spend in each place? A Multi city ticket can work best so you can fly in one place and out the other may be best. I would check times/prices on this kind of ticket to get some ideas of whats available. The Eurostar goes from London to Brussels. So you might fly into London. Eurostar to Brussels, base there or another city in Belgium for Brussels and Bruges as they are close. Train from Brussels to Amsterdam. Fly one way to Bucharest (maybe train if you have more time) Then fly home from Bucharest. You could of course reverse this. Seat61.com can give you train information and skyscanner.com for European budget flights.

I would suggest you fly into Amsterdam and work your way back to London.
Bucharest has no budget air carrier flights from Amsterdam, but you can get there cheap from London on Wizz Air or Blue Air.

As Keith and David have said, it depends on what your flight options are to/from Bucharest. You're planning a trip from a city with limited European connections to a relatively low destination city in Europe. The most "efficient" route is usually to fly open-jaw into the nearest city and out of the farthest (or vice versa). But you may not have flight options for that or the cost may be so high that it's not worth it.

Start by determining how you get to/from Bucharest. Start by looking at the wiki page for the Bucharest airport. Toward the bottom, there's a chart of all the airlines/destinations with scheduled flights. You can do the same with the Montreal airport.

Air Canada will sell you a ticket to Bucharest connecting through Munich or Frankfurt. One or more legs may be on AC's partner Lufthansa. It will return you to Montreal from many European cities.
www.itasoftware.com will show you many possibilities. For internal European flights, you can use www.skyscanner.com to see budget airlines. Most budget carriers do not connect with other airlines.
