Hi, I'm a college student and traveled around Europe while abroad Junior year and planned my trips then by myself. However, I am looking on taking an organized tour of Egypt after graduation this Spring. (I know this isn't "Europe," but I didn't know where else to post this questionI know I'll get some good responses!). Has anyone taken a Student Universe Organized Trip? I was unable to found any real reviews online about them. For example, there is an 8-day "Budget" tour of Egypt I was looking at. In addition, if anyone knows some other good tour companies that they would represent for a younger traveler, I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks.
Tim, I don't think they cover Egypt, but you might contact Andy (Rick's Son) at WSA Europe as he may have some suggestions. Good luck and happy travels!
Contiki offers a 9 day tour of Egypt. http://www.contiki.com/destinations/europe/tours/102-egypt-the-nile/variation3 Just a bit of a warning: Contiki tours in Europe and America are known for their heavy partying. Not sure how much of that will be going on in Egypt these days.
I just returned from a tour to Egypt and Jordan with G Adventures, a Canadian Company. I highly recommend. Our guide was great! The age range was varied, 25-68. Not familiar with Student Universe but Contiki is non stop partying which is fine for Europe (I did Contiki years ago) but not in Egypt. G Adventures does have a yolo tour which is designed for the 18-39 clientele which usually has college-aged students and will allow for the partying.
Oh for Egypt, keep in mind they are having their elections so things will be even more unstable. Read the news and the embassy updates. Also keep in mind the weather. It was over 100 degrees in Mid-March.
I highly recommend StudentUniverse. They work with g-adventures to offer great prices on tours. And if you're a student, you can get some ridiculous discounts on flights from them as well.
