Student Trip to Europe

I am coordinating a trip for 18 students (myself included!) to Munich, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland. The trip has a Financial Services focus, meaning we will be visiting several businesses while traveling. However, the industry visits only last so long. We need some suggestions for what sorts of activities or sightseeing to do in our free time.

Additionally, the end of the trip has flex time so that we can each do some traveling of our own choice. Personally, I am going to Venice and Rome. Any suggestions for 4/5 days between the two cities?

Thanks for any help!!

kelsey make a list of places and sights from rick's books at local library regarding your open time areas. my first trip to europe began with such a list five times longer then my time would have allowed. narrow down and narrow down to something
sort of possible, then cut that in half. you might see half that list so plan to return again and again...larryk

From Munich you could do some day trips - Salzburg and the Saltzkamargurt area, Dachau concentration camp, Hitler's Eagles Nest, Burchesgarten, and there are several Salt Mines in the area too. Lots of Mad Ludwig's castles also.

Hello Kelsey. The planning of a good trip to Germany and Italy begins with reading the travel guide books "Rick Steves' GERMANY 2009" and "Rick Steves' ITALY 2009". I think : everything that is important to know about visiting Munich and Venice and Rome is in those books. And more hotels and B & Bs in Rome are mentioned in other travel guide books on Rome.

Hi Kelsey, Why not let the students do some "homework" and come up with ideas on what to see and where to go. You would be surprised with the suggestions you get. Some will probably be strange, but some will be fantastic.
