I am in London with my Daughter and new grandson. I was interested in a tour of St. Albans and the market. Anyone try the trip? I thought it would be nice to be out of the city for a day. Thanks Katie
St Albans is okay and has a couple of interesting buildings. The market is fairly large, but not unlike a bunch of others. I could think of a lot better places to spend a day unless you've already seen everything that's closer in.
We did a day trip to St Albans by train from London a few years ago, and I believe the market was on Wednesday (loca fish mongers, etc. very interesting), the cathedral was interesting and then walk over (it's a long but nice walk along the lake with a Roman museum along the way) to the Roman Ruins, very interesting and you will be the only people there probably. We had dinner at a pub in town. It's an easy trip and trains run often so no worry about missing one back to London.
