We are looking for suggestions on a spring break trip for our family, kids ages range from 6-11. Warm would be preferable, travel would be mid March.
If you've just got one week, you need to stick to one of the great cities: Paris, Rome, Barcelona. Unfortunately, the weather can be variable that time of the year--sometimes good and sometimes not.
I assume it's your first trip to Europe, but I'd wait until school's out to go and take a little more time to take in more territory.
Of you are thinking warm as in beach weather, europe is not good choice for march.
Mexican Riviera would be my pick.
It's a long way to fly to Europe for one week with young ones though....
I would look for a place the kids would have fun with. Maybe a place with caves to explore, boats and old trains to ride. Maybe super high and super long ski chair rides, zoos and amusement parks, water parks and great pools. Anyone know of a place like that?
Sorry just realized you may get two weeks of spring break. In which case Barcelona and Rome are not bad choices..your kids may not appreciate all the sites, but they will some, the Coliseum was interesting to my 11 yr old ( the gladiators, people being eaten by lions etc) ... and Barcelonas cool Gotti buildings ( they may remind them of dr suess )
My kids were all at least 11 when we took them to europe, and since we went in summer minths we were able to build in more outdoor time, hiking , swimming etc,,,so my advice is perhaps put europe off for a few more years,,,or try to go later , May would be good.
Have you considered Hawaii?
Antigua, Guatemala is a great place in March... especially if you are there for a few days before Easter, There is a beautiful culture, ruins, volcanoes, a great marked in Chichicastenango and Lake Atitilan... you could also go off to the jungle and Mayan ruins in Tikal... plus it is such a reasonable place to travel. Kids can take private Spanish lessons. There is a guest house I stay at that includes your meals, etc. Send me a PM if you are interested in info for the guest house. It is 2 blocks off the square.
