Splurge-worthy restaurants in Paris

Hello! I will be in Paris in a couple of weeks for my birthday - the Big 3-0. Does anyone have a splurge-worthy restaurant (be it on a certain tower or perhaps in conjunction with a cruise) to recommend?

Hi Chelsea,
... the above link is Tom's Guide to Paris. On the home page click on "EATING". There are plenty of places mentioned that we haven't tried, but would like to. One or two look like a good place to celebrate something like birthdays. If you have questions about things in Tom's guide, send him an email [see "CONTACT ME"]...
... bon appétit AND bon aniversaire (sp.maybe)! P

Chelsea...you won't be 30...you'll be 29 and holding:). It depends on whether you're more interested in the food experience or the view. We've done both the Jules Verne restaurant on the second level of the Eiffel tower (very good food but extremely expensive...reservations necessary for lunch and dinner) and the Altitude 95 restaurant on the first level (good food, but still pricey). We've also done a dinner cruise on the Seine....food is adequate, but you go for the romance and the sight of a lit-up Paris by night (I think it was Bateaux Mouches). For these, you really need a "significant other" to share the experience with you. Otherwise, just about any good restaurant in Paris, suggested here or elsewhere, is a good spot to go...especially if you can get near the windows and watch Paris go by!

I had a wonderful Birthday dinner years back at Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. The menu with the prices is presented to only one person at the table.

My other favorite restaurant is Laperous.

Le Tour'Argent. If you can get a seat by the window, you'll be overlooking the seine and notre dame. It is very elegant & very pricey (approx $400 usd for 2 with appetizer/main course/dessert/alcohol), but the food & view were both great. We really enjoyed it, but it is definately a once in in a lifetimer for us.
