Speeding Ticket in Austria

Hi everyone, I tried doing a search on this but nothing provided the answers I'm looking for. My husband received a notice yesterday from Hertz that he has a speeding violation. The invoice (was in english) they sent is for there adminitrative cost not the acctual cost of the violation that the autorities will be sending us there charges separate. It also has a fax form for us to send to charge our credit card and there is also a letter that is written in German we have know idea what this is and what is says. Does anyone know what this would be or what it might say? We really want to pay the fine but don't know how to go about it. Any help would be much appreciated. Wendy

The Language Department at your local university or High School may be able to help with the translation.

Thank you,
I was able to scan everything and email an attachment to my German friend in Germany. She was able to explain it to me. The attached letter was from the authorities asking for permission to know who rented the car. We only have to pay for the administative cost from Hertz right now. I'm sure we wil hear from the authorities soon. Wendy

Juno, "you pay Hertz for ratting you out". Unfortunately, Hertz is only following the terms of the Rental Agreement. Every rental car agreement that I've ever seen includes a clause specifying that the renter agrees to pay all violation or other tickets. I haven't checked in a while, but I believe this also includes provision for the rental car firm to provide details of the renter to local authorities, and charge a fee for that "service". By signing the agreement, the renter agrees to be "ratted out" by the car rental companies. Cheers!
