I will travelling to Prague in August for appx. 3 days. Does anyone know of a spa town (with hot springs and bath house) that would be appropriate for a day trip from Prague via public transportation?

There are many spa towns in the Czech Republic. The closest as I am aware is Podebrady. Less than 1 hour by train from Prague. Also bus connection. Not sure about natural hot springs but you can have several different hot baths there in addition to other procedures. You will have to have a reservation for a procedure.
