Southern Germany Plans-Is this feasible?

Hi all, I am wondering about the last two days of our car rental and if our plans are feasible in two days. Day One leave our hotel in Rothenburg ob der Tauber first thing in the morning. enjoy the drive down the Romantic Road visit Lindau and enjoy the views for a few hours drive to Fussen and check into our hotel Day Two reserve the first tours (8 a.m., I believe) for Hohenschwangau followed by Neuschwanstein. drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and explore a bit *Take the gondola to the top of the Zugspitze
*drive to Munich and return our car at the airport by 7 p.m. What do you think? Thanks! Angie

Thanks! I will check it out. I have been using Google maps for this, but I am wondering about things that it may not show...like traffic or that a castle takes 3 hours to get into and out of instead of 1 hour or little unknowns like that. :)

The Romantic Road is just a two lane road filled with cars, trucks, tour buses, and even slow moving farm vehicles. It is time consuming and not that interesting a drive. It's the towns along the road that are interesting, but your schedule doesn't leave time to see any of the towns. I'd skip the Road. You might be able to get directly to Lindau (Lindau is worth a day by itself), see it briefly, and go then to Füssen, but you'd be pushing it. From the website for the castles, www.hohenschwangau.de, "Reserved tickets can be collected from the Ticket-Center in Hohenschwangau only on the day of your planned visit, no later than one hour before your confirmed time of entrance." Since the ticket center opens at 8:00 AM, that would put the first tour at 9:00 AM, but that tour might not be in English. By the time you tour both castle and drive to Garmisch, it's going to be afternoon. The best time to go up the Zugspitze is morning, before the clouds form. You won't have much time on the Zugspitze before you have to return to Garmisch in order to get to MUC with time to return the car before 7. You really have too much travel packed into this itinerary, with little time to appreciate the places you traveled so long to see.
