Ok, I admit, I saw this on another travel forum, but it was fun and I thought we could use something frivilous and light today.

A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum...man I hate that song...if i'd been born 3 weeks later it would have been 'All You Need is Love" by those four scouse lads...that would have been much better..but I dont think my mum could have waited the extra weeks!

The song "Wheel of Fortune" sung by Kay Star. If you want frivilous entertainment, some cartoons that were in MAD magazine pertain to the topic of travelling to Europe. They are in the book "THE MAD BATHROOM COMPANION", edited by Nick Meglin & John Ficarra. Published by METRO BOOKS, New York City. Copyright 2004 by E.C. Publications. That book is in BARNES & NOBLE book stores (in the U.S.A.) now. Bargain price. That book does not have page numbers. "... People Watcher's Guide to an Airport" is big cartoon pictures on three pages. It begins on the page that is 122 pages in front of "Credits" at the back of the book. "The HYPOCHONDRIAC'S seven day tour of EUROPE". It begins on the page that is 23 pages in front of "Credits". "One Afternoon in Downtown Lourdes (in southrn France)" : cartoon pictures by Don Martin.

Not when I was born, but studying in England in the early 80's - "That's why you'll find him in the kitchen at parties" and "mirror in the bathroom" It's scary that with this post I can still remember most of the words... Mirror in the bathroom 1 2 3, the door is locked just you and me. Anyone else remember those?

This is the website that you go to and find out what was "number 1" on your birthday, or your wedding day or for those of you who keep baby books and forgot to fill out that part that says what songs were popular, this website can fill in the blanks. Just copy and paste it. Haven't figured out how to do hyperlinks on this forum. Sorry!

Glad everyone is having fun with it.

The Three Bells by Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie Brown was a beautiful song and a huge hit. It told the story of little Jimmy Brown with the first of the Chapel bells ringing in the village announcing his birth, the second ringing of the bells announcing his wedding 20 years later and the third single chapel bell tells that he has passed away. The song was based on a 1945 French song "Les trois cloches". Here are the English lyrics.

There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Among the pine trees half forlorn
And there on a sunny morning
Little Jimmy Brown was born

All the chapel bells were ringing
In the little valley town
And the songs that they were singing
Were for baby Jimmy Brown
Then the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless this hour of meditation
Guide him with eternal love

There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Beneath the mountains high above
And there, twenty years thereafter
Jimmy was to meet his love

All the chapel bells were ringing,
Was a great day in his life
Cause the songs that they were singing
Were for Jimmy and his wife
Then the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
Bless oh Lord this celebration
May their lives be filled with love

From the village hidden deep in the valley
One rainy morning dark and gray
A soul winged its way to heaven
Jimmy Brown had passed away

Just a lonely bell was ringing
In the little valley town
Twas farewell that it was singing
To our good old Jimmy Brown
And the little congregation
Prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation,
May his soul find the salvation
Of thy great eternal love"

Found the following as performed live by the Browns.
