I simply went on my pharmacies website, answered a few questions, and I have an appointment. The questions are pretty "low bar", most everyone is a few pounds heavier than ideal (BMI), or at least if you believe you are...

Apparently, I had to have a prescription for mine Tuesday,

I didn’t realize when I booked it is that CVS flipped me over automatically to their clinic

I will just tell you that this was not the highest prescription bar I’ve ever climbed. They took me back there. She asked me some questions about my allergies medication, etc. etc. said do you want right or left arm and put the needle in there. However, since she was a nurse practitioner, I’m sure she wrote a prescription so I could have the shot. LOL

Publix pharmacies (in the South) are now requiring a prescription and they only have the Pfizer vaccine. Not a problem for us, as we just asked our family doctor who obliged without any questions.

SIL got hers yesterday at a local Walgreens here in Idaho. No prescription needed. Easy peasy. The pharmacist told her he'd done 60 the day before.

Yesterday, I made an appointment for a shot this coming Monday at my local Safeway grocery/pharmacy. That did not require a pre-consultation with my primary care physician (gee, I didn’t need that for any prior COVID-19 vaccinations!), so we’ll see if I actually get the shot. A week earlier, just being older than 65 was sufficient.

My biggest concern is whether I’ll have to pay for the shot, or if the cost will be covered, as has always been the case previously.

Over 65 and got mine (Pfizer) at CVS here in Santa Cruz, CA on Thursday - no prescription needed, covered by Medicare.

Cyn: Pharmacies tend to process payments for vaxes immediately like when dispensing drugs, even before the vax is given. So if you get the shot, it’s because insurance already paid.

There was a time at CVS for a covid vax they had pre-tested my insurance that morning to see if it went through, it didn’t, so they canceled the appointment (without telling me.)
