Solo travel with cast on foot.

Hello, I live and work in Switzerland right now and have 2 weeks off. Originally I was planning to travel but almost 2 weeks ago I ruptured the ligament in my foot. I'm in a walking cast now and just got off the crutches so I can walk with out them but still very slow. This Friday I will also have a waterproof cast put on. Problem is I don't want to waste my time left to travel Europe. So I was wondering if there were any suggestions as far as places in Europe to go to that would be manageable for a solo female traveler who moves slow and can't do as much walking?

I would think any place other than some of the areas known for hiking. The larger cities with public transit would help the limited walking. But really don't think that any one place would be substantially better than another.

One suggestion would be to go to a location where they have the hop on hop off bus. You could sit and enjoy a narrated tour of the city.

Personally, I would chose Paris. I'd soak up the cafe culture in various arrondissements and people watch. Just enjoy 'being' in Paris (or any other city of your choosing). Paris would always be my choice.

Another option, especially since there's some good train connections from Switzerland, would be Stresa, Italy. It's a relaxing, beautiful town on Lake Maggoire. You could take the ferry boat out to Isola Bella and explore at a leisurely pace. The town area is compact, so you wouldn't need to walk too much. There's also a nice promenade if you want to just sit near the water. Also, there's boats that will take you to other locations on the lake.

rs,

I was just on crutches for six weeks, so can well appreciate your situation. One suggestion would be to make a list of places that you want to see in Europe, and then narrow down the list based on which city will provide the most ease in getting around. Although you can get about slowly, locations which involve a lot of walking will probably have to be dropped.

Travel by train will be much easier than using budget flights, as airports usually involve lots of walking. I was just away for a short trip on the weekend, and was reminded of that fact.

With two weeks, you could perhaps visit two or three different cities, but best to pick those that don't involve a lot of travel time.

It would help to have some idea on which cities you might like to visit.
