Solo Tour in Europe this Fall

I am a musician in Boston MA and I am traveling to London on October 1st and home from London on October 16th. I would like to stay in London for a few nights, go to Paris, over to Amsterdam and then back to London. I am 30 years old, traveling solo with a guitar, and trying to play a show, or at least an open mic, at each city I go to. Any suggestions about where to go, good small venues to contact or how to get from place to place with a back pack and a guitar would be much appreciated! Check out www.johnhansonmusic.com if you are curious.

I am looking for ideas about getting from Paris to Amsterdam, how to get back to London from Amsterdam, whether to stay in hostels or airbnb's, what areas/venues are good for live music (folk/classic rock/pop style), and anything else you may think of!

Thank you for your time!

When you enter as a tourist, you're not allowed to work for cash or for goods and services. I assume that an open mic is different.

The best way from London to Paris is Eurostar train, Paris to Amsterdam by Thalys train, and Amsterdam to London by EasyJet or a flight competitor. Book all of these tickets soon to get the best prices.

You can check out hostels at hostelworld.com. I'd be a little concerned about a guitar in a dorm room (haven't stayed in one) - will the backpack and the guitar fit in the lockers provided?

Also look at Thorntree - that's the Lonely Planet's travel forum. They have a lot more young backpackers than this forum does.

For train journeys, use seat61.com for travel info. You can get back to the UK by train from Amsterdam. This maybe a cheaper option than paying for your guitar to travel on a plane.

Pubs in the UK with open mic nights tend not to be anywhere very central.
