Assuming we could actually figure out how to download a ringtone from the internet (we are major dinosaurs!), we wondered if the little chime they use in France when making train announcements was available anywhere. Can anyone help? Thank you!
If you do a google search for sncf ringtone download you'll get a lot of possibilities. There are little 4 beat versions to a 3 minute version of the whole jingle.
That would be cool! There's an elevator in a parking garage near my office that plays a similar tone and I think of European train travel everytime I hear it. Good luck!
I happen to have the official Swiss Rail chimes on my hard drive. Many years ago the Swiss Rail site allowed folks to download them...not anymore:( If anyone is interested in them, PM me.
It turns out that we have Virgin Mobile and VM only allows us to download tunes they have selected and SNCF is not one of them. Thanks to everyone for your help.
I want the sound those mechanical train schedule boards make when they're changing...ahhhhh... I HATE technological change.
Sorry to be a little bit off track but when I was looking for train sounds I found this fun website for metro sounds, another pleasurable audio memory. Its called Voices in the Deep. http://mic-ro.com/metro/announcements.html @Eileen, I couldn't find any good sustained clickety clack files from train boards but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there.
Mona, now I'm inspired to continue my search...and merci beaucoup for the Paris metro 'door buzz'; who knew how many memories were stored in a simple buzz?!? And thanks to you, too, Michael; love the chimes! I'm going to have to gather 'train station sounds' and make a loop of them LOL!!! Maybe I'll listen to it on the long airplane trip over the Big Blue...or anytime I'm feeling blue ;-) Faith, you aren't the only dinosaurs...!
Faith - Sorry you can't download the ringtone, but what a fun idea! Eileen - I found one! It's not great, lot's of station background noise, but you can definitely here that wonderful clattering of the board changing... http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/summary/play.cfm/sound_iid.277075
Oh I love it! If I could find a ringtone for "Next-a Halt St. Goar...Next-a Halt Bacharach" that would be sweet. Mona, I checked your web link but it didn't appear to have that specific one.
Linda, I. Love. You. If I close my eyes.........perfect! ;-) Then, I thought 'I bet YouTube has some good stuff'.........Let's take up a collection and send the money to Jo; apparently, the Frankfurt Airport needs to 'buy a vowel' (and some consonants, some umlauted vowels...LOL): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7Qw-q8PEJc&feature=related
What a fantastic idea. I heard the chime in the background of a news report recently and had a little emotional jolt. Such good connotations that chime has!
