I know there's a lot of posters here that recommend Smartwool products, especially the socks, for travel. Those products are being featured on ZULILY this weekend if anyone is interested.
Excellent. Best socks ever made. Thanks for the heads up.
My husband loves the shirts and socks by Smartwool, especially for travel.
Adding my thanks, Elaine. I use many Smartwool products and am pleased with them. If I can get a bargain, I'll be even more pleased!
Love SmartWool - used (heavy hiking) socks recently on an extended hiking trip and can't go back to other socks given how great these were. REI is also having a sale that includes socks if you are an REI member.
Another vote for Smartwool. They cost a grip but are worth every cent. They are comfortable, dry fast and keep your feet dry, and...(drum roll)....they don't smell even after a long day!
Merino wool products are in my kit including a lightweight zip-t sweater, underwear and socks. If the weather is cooler, then a t-shirt tags along. These products are very comfortable, don't stink like the plastic versions, sink wash easily and dry overnight. Typical brands, and always purchased on sale, are Icebreaker and Smartwool.
I'll wade in here with a vote for Darn Tough socks over Smartwool. Both are quite good and equal upfront, but over time the Darn Tough products are generally more durable and seem to get much less hole-y over time.
Sierra Trading usually has a fair selection of SmartWool socks for far less than they cost in regular stores. Average price between $8-10 per pair, some less, some more. They last so long, and I love the crazy patterns!
Icebreaker makes good stuff too. Expensive, but sometimes found at a good price.
I like Smartwool for serious hiking but gave up on them for touristic travel after about a week with increasingly itchy feet in England. Went into a Marks & Spencer and bought several pairs of cheap cotton socks. Happy feet thereafter. I wear cotton socks at home and I guess the wool (even the "smart" kind) got too uncomfortable after awhile.
