Smaller Waterfront or Lake Town/Boutique Hotel - Italy or Spain - June Recommendations

I know it's a wide open request :-) I'm looking for recommendations in Italy or Spain for a 5-day "vacation" after 12 days of travel. Looking for a quaint/smaller waterfront or lake town - boutique hotel (prefer smaller hotels over large resorts) would like onsite spa and bar/restaurant but would also like to have bars and restaurants within walking distance, a little shopping is great too but not required. It's for the middle of June so I know that "less touristy" is not going to happen but prefer a more laid back vibe, mid-50's, love a little nightlife but not club/party scene. Budget can go up to $650 per night.

Looking to relax, be lazy, and enjoy one place :-)

It's not either Spain or Italy, but perhaps take a look at Collioure France. It is near the Spain border on the Mediteranean, a couple of hours from Barcelona. A lovely small town. I don't have a hotel for you, as the one we stayed in was very small, but I recall there being some other fancier hotels in town. There are little restaurants everywhere, it is very charming. It was mainly french tourists when we were there in early July, and not overly busy yet. That was 10 years ago though.

Great question :-) We will most likely be coming from Amsterdam so will be flying into our destination - would prefer not to have more than 1-2 hours of travel from the airport to our destination.

I suggest San Sebastian, Spain. We've been a couple of times and stayed here: https://hlondres.com/en/
It is right on the promenade at the beach. We had a waterfront room and it was lovely. You can walk to everything! There is an onsite restaurant but you can walk to eat some of the best Pintox (tapas) within 3 mins. Everyone is out in the evening, strolling along the promenade. You can rent paddle boards or small sail boats, or you can relax on the beach. Enjoy your trip where ever you decide to land!
