Small personal mister (to cool from heat) - recommendations needed

Recommendations needed for a pocket-sized (refillable) personal water mister for a bit of cooling when out in really hot weather. Thinking a spritz of misted water might help to cool the face, neck, etc. Anyone found this to work...or are you just then slightly wet, more humid and still just as hot?

I have looked on line, and there are a lot of rechargeable ones, but I am thinking a small manual pump one that can be slipped into a cargo-style pants or shorts pocket. I have found a few on line, some with fans, but they all appear either too large or they get some crummy reviews.

I am thinking something like the old-fashion plant misters, only smaller & more "packable."

If you have had excellent experience with the rechargeable ones, I am "all ears," but I do worry the charge might not last long enough, if out for say 6-8 hours in the heat (with short breaks that might allow for refilling with water). I do okay in the shade, but the intense sun (even if in good sun-protecting clothing and a big wide brim hat) just does me in.

I realize a good fall-back plan is to pour a bit of water into one's hand/s, from a water bottle and splash it about, too. That just might be the answer.

What works for you?

I don't know what they are for, since I don't wear makeup, but I have found nice little pump misters in the makeup sections of CVS and Walgreens. Under 3" tall and quite slender, with caps. When traveling, I use them for spritzing wrinkled shirts and even for a little bit of ironing if an apartment has an iron. They look like this: https://www.amazon.com/Fantasea-Fine-Spray-Bottle-Ounce/dp/B000NIY7QM/ref=asc_df_B000NIY7QM/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312091700820&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6228150480793610476&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9020117&hvtargid=pla-449808757829&th=1

For feeling less awful when it's hot (I really, really hate being hot and in two days it's going to be 100 degrees at our cabin, yikes), I prefer a damp washcloth for wiping my face --- for travel, I've been using small thin washcloths that are for babies. I keep one in a snack size ziploc bag in my purse. Even better if you can freeze it. These are mine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AV03BA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

instead of a mister, consider a neck wrap (like these). I used one in SE Asia and it worked great. Douse with water as needed and it refreshes. Just make sure it's completely (and I mean completely) dry before packing it away (odors will ensue otherwise).

I just use a spray bottle from the travel size section in the store or that is part of a travel bottle kit. I always have one in my purse...have for years

Wow....more great suggestions!!! THANK YOU.

The neck fan and a/c are fascinating. Can't wait to show those to my hubby.

The inexpensive spray bottles will be a no-brainer...easy/inexpensive/easy to refill, but we might actually try a neck fan in advance of our trip. The a/c model would be tempting, but sounds like the cooling chips need recharging after just a few hours. And, I always travel with inexpensive washcloths, so pouring bottled water over them can work, too.

We will also continue to "train" here at home, working up to longer full-sun hikes in TN heat/humidity, too. Otherwise we walk early morning or as the sun sets, but we will "make" ourselves begin to pre-adjust a bit. Just wish I had a pool to jump into afterward ;)

I am typically an outdoor person (big gardener), but I tend to work early mornings, or just (accidentally ....just pulling one weed turns into a full bag quickly) an hour or so in mid-day sun, and more so late afternoon/evening when the shade rolls around. Being full-sun the majority of the day on a few days of a tour in a really hot location is something I do not want to be UNDER prepared for, especially with my fair, Irish-heritage skin (translation: burns easily)

Sincerely appreciate all the input and great ideas!! Thank you. You have given me some great options to explore.

Another vote for the neck wraps. They work.

Also drink plenty of water.

We used our mini umbrellas a lot…that helped when no shade while in Italian sites. Also along with misters, wet towels and mini fans.

I haven't had a lot of success with the neck wraps. If the weather conditions aren't optimal the evaporative cooling isn't either. Then it just feels like a weight around my neck. But I have found the O2Cool fan/mister to be helpful. It takes a regular AA battery.

I have a neck fan as well as a personal mister. The neck fan is good, but bulky and I only wear it when car camping when it is really hot.

The personal mister fan though, that thing is pure genius! I bought a tiny one off of Amazon and it is maybe 4". It is battery operated. I took it to a wedding last summer when it was over 100 degrees in the Columbia River Gorge. My family laughed at me, but only until they asked me to mist them;) That was the saving grace of the day for me! I have taken it backpacking with me as well. Yes, my husband laughs, but it truly is as good as sliced bread.

And here I was thinking that the poster was looking for a short male to fan them in the heat.
